NFL Recap: Denver Stage Fourth-Quarter Comeback Against Eagles, Baltimore Suffer Historic Home Loss
Denver Broncos 21–17 Philadelphia Eagles
Bo Nix found a short scoring throw and JK Dobbins added a two-yard ground touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Broncos overcame a 14-point deficit to hand the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the campaign. Denver's defense batted down Jalen Hurts' final attempt on the game's concluding play to hand the reigning title holders to just their second defeat in their last 22 games. The Broncos (3-2) got fortunate in their rally when the Philadelphia had a late fourth-down conversion called back on a formation infraction called on running back Saquon Barkley.
Texans Dominate Depleted Ravens in Record Win
CJ Stroud passed for 244 yards and four touchdowns, and the Texans (2-3) cruised to a 44-10 win over an injury-ravaged Ravens squad, equaling both the biggest away victory in the franchise's record books and the worst home defeat in Baltimore's annals. Baltimore (1-4) were missing two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, and that was not their sole issue. Defensive standouts Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey all were absent, and the Ravens already were depleted on that side of the ball because of a cervical issue that concluded the defensive lineman's campaign. Baltimore were also missing Pro Bowl blocker Ricard and offensive lineman Stanley.
Colts Rout Raiders in One-Sided Affair
Jonathan Taylor ran for three touchdowns and a two-pointer, and Daniel Jones threw two touchdown passes as the Colts routed the Raiders. This decisive advantage was Indy's biggest since 2013. The quarterback completed 20 of 29 for 212 passing yards and moved to four wins and one loss as the starting quarterback this year, exceeding his total wins over the past two seasons with the New York Giants. Taylor rushed 17 attempts for 66 rushing yards and grabbed three passes for 20 yards. Indianapolis converted a blocked punt, two interceptions and a turnover on downs into TDs. The Raiders fell to 4-1.
Dallas Cowboys 37-22 New York Jets
Dallas' quarterback threw four touchdown passes, guiding the Dallas Cowboys to a comfortable win over the Jets. The Cowboys scored on two 90-yard drives in the second quarter, despite being without key linemen on the offensive line. The running back gained 135 rushing yards and a score and also hauled in a TD pass. Dallas, now two wins, two losses, and a tie, bounced back from a 40-40 tie against the Packers last Sunday. New York are still without a victory at 0-5 in Aaron Glenn's inaugural year as the leader.
Vikings Edge Browns in London Thriller
Minnesota wideout Jordan Addison caught a short touchdown pass from the quarterback with 25 seconds remaining to secure Minnesota victory over the Browns at the UK venue. The 10-play, 80-yard drive gave the Minnesota (3-2) a crucial victory on their historic international road trip, which started with a 24-21 loss to the Steelers in Ireland last week. This also marred Dillon Gabriel's first NFL start, as the Cleveland rookie put his team (1-4) in position to win by passing for two scores. Fellow rookie Quinshon Judkins gained 110 rushing yards on 23 attempts. Wentz shook off an arm issue that briefly forced him out and led two touchdown marches in the second half.
Panthers Stage Epic Comeback Against Dolphins
Carolina's quarterback passed for two scores and Rico Dowdle ran for 206 rushing yards and a touchdown as the Panthers rallied past the Dolphins in their home stadium. The quarterback's quick throw to rookie tight end Mitchell Evans with 1:59 to play gave the Carolina (two wins and three losses) the decisive advantage as they equaled the biggest rally to secure victory in team history by erasing a 17-point hole. The QB had a poor start, but he ended up 19 completions on 30 attempts for 198 yards with an interception. Dowdle, filling in for injured Chuba Hubbard, did his damage on the ground on 23 carries, coming up four yards of matching the team's all-time rushing mark. Miami's quarterback threw 27 of 36 for 256 passing yards with three touchdowns and receiver Waddle gained 110 yards through the air on six receptions and scored a touchdown, but the Dolphins (one win and four losses) dropped to zero wins and three losses in road games.
New York Giants 14–26 New Orleans Saints
Spencer Rattler passed for an 87-yard touchdown to receiver Shaheed, safety Jordan Howden returned a fumble 86 yards for a score, and New Orleans beat the turnover-prone New York Giants for the Saints' initial win under first-year head coach Moore. Rattler earned his first victory in 11 career starts, throwing for 225 passing yards without any mistakes. New York's first-year signal-caller Jaxson Dart, who secured his first career start last Sunday, threw for 202 passing yards and two touchdowns, but also turned the ball over on three occasions. New York turned the ball over five times in all, with none worse than when the defender forced a fumble from ball carrier Skattebo, leading to Howden's touchdown. Each squad are one win and four losses.
